Built in 1975 for Sabena Airlines (Belgium) and first flown at Renton as OO-SDM on 12 June 1975, it was accepted by Sabena on 1 July 1975. In 1993 it was sold and leased back by Sabena. In 1998 it was sold to European Aviation at Bournemouth, UK and again leased back by Sabena until August 1999, when it was returned to European Aviation. It was registered G-CEAD in October 1999 and operated by European Air Charter. In January 2006, it was delivered to Melbourne, Australia for operation by OzJet Airlines and was later re-registered VH-OBN. OzJet operated flights between Sydney and Melbourne and later from Perth to Derby-Curtin and Perth to Denpasar. VH-OBN was cancelled from the Australian Aircraft Register on 14 May 2009 and the airline ceased operations on 20 May 2009, with its fleet stored at Perth Airport. VH-OBN was re-registered N732HV in July 2009, and advertised for sale. No buyers were found for the aircraft and it was donated to Polytechnic West. On 24 April 2010, it was flown on a short flight from Perth Airport to Jandakot, becoming the largest aircraft to land at Jandakot. It is used for ground instruction in their Aerospace Training Centre facility, with its tail always protruding from the hangar. It is still kept in working order and has a full airline cabin fitout. This was a rare day when the hangar door was open.

This aircraft has recently started flying again after maintenance. The new owner, Chris Godfrey, is receiving transition training from Steve Robinson, who owns another Trojan, VH-KAN. Chris will later fly the aircraft to its new base in Victoria, where he hopes to fly it at air shows.
VH-PFM was built in 1951 as a T-28A-NI and allocated serial 51-3588 with the US Air Force. It was later converted to a T-28D and served with the US Air Force in the Vietnam War. It was sold to the Royal Lao Air Force in 1975 and allocated serial 3405. Around 1977, it was stored at Xieng Khouang airfield, until sold to Keith Death in Australia in 1988. The Trojan was dismantled, trucked to Savannakhet in western Laos and then Bangkok, before being shipped to Sydney. Initially reserved the registration VH-WPA in 1992, but this was not taken up in 1992, so it was registered to F. W. Pike, Bankstown, NSW, as VH-PFM on 30 September 1993. Registered to Anthony Mitchell on 30 July 2008 and based at Jandakot. Chris Godfrey acquired the aircraft in November 2014, but it has been stored at Jandakot until now. The aircraft has nose art with name “Airborne Angel”, and Vietnam War camouflage.

This was the last Grumman Albatross built. A total of 418 Grumman Albatross aircraft were built between 1947 and 1961. Built in 1961, ex Bu No 148329, 9056 (JMSDF), N88999, PK-PAM, N26PR, N42MY. Since arriving at Jandakot in April 2012, it only made a few flights in February 2013. With a maximum take-off weight of 13882kg, it exceeds the weight limits for operation from Jandakot, and had to apply for special dispensation to be parked here. The owner, Mack McCormack, initially planned to base the Albatross in Broome and use the aircraft to fly tourist and charter flights in and around the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Mr McCormack later announced that he intended to begin flying boat flights Perth’s Swan River to the Abrolhos Islands, off the coast of Geraldton from April 2013, with operations to be expanded into the Kimberley region later. Despite some promotional flights from Geraldton to the Abrolhos Islands in February 2013, the aircraft has since remained on the ground at Jandakot Airport. Recently moved to a different parking spot, it is now parked near the RFDS base. It is soon to move to Queensland, as there was apparently too much State Government red tape in trying to launch large seaplane operations here in Western Australia.
