The annual Westfly Fly-In is held at White Gum Farm, near York, Western Australia, in the last weekend of September each year.
The event is intended to provide a venue for a gathering of all aviators and aviation enthusiasts – it is open to everyone.
Aircraft participating include CASA-registered VH- aircraft, RAAus-registered aircraft, gliders, and gyrocopters.
AAWA member and pilot Scott Palmer flew the University Flying Club’s Czech Sport Aircraft Piper Sport VH-EZT from Jandakot to White Gum Farm and return, and took these photographs.

In 2006, Czech Aircraft Works (CZAW), now named Czech Sport Aircraft, began producing an aircraft called the SportCruiser. Piper Aircraft of the USA did not have an aircraft in production in the burgeoning Light Sport Aircraft category, so they entered into a licencing agreement with Czech Sport Aircraft to market a slightly modified SportCruiser as the PiperSport from January 2010. The aircraft were still manufactured by Czech Sport Aircraft, with Piper only distributing parts and marketing the aircraft. Modifications to the original SportCruiser included a stronger nosegear, a Ballistic Recovery Systems parachute and leather interior as standard, a cockpit sunshade, modified pitch controls, and a different paint scheme. Although the Sport Cruiser was available as a completed aircraft or a kit, Piper offered it only as a completed aircraft. However, on 12 January 2011, after selling 45 aircraft, Piper announced that the PiperSport would be discontinued due to “different business philosophies”.
