This aircraft has recently started flying again after maintenance. The new owner, Chris Godfrey, is receiving transition training from Steve Robinson, who owns another Trojan, VH-KAN. Chris will later fly the aircraft to its new base in Victoria, where he hopes to fly it at air shows.
VH-PFM was built in 1951 as a T-28A-NI and allocated serial 51-3588 with the US Air Force. It was later converted to a T-28D and served with the US Air Force in the Vietnam War. It was sold to the Royal Lao Air Force in 1975 and allocated serial 3405. Around 1977, it was stored at Xieng Khouang airfield, until sold to Keith Death in Australia in 1988. The Trojan was dismantled, trucked to Savannakhet in western Laos and then Bangkok, before being shipped to Sydney. Initially reserved the registration VH-WPA in 1992, but this was not taken up in 1992, so it was registered to F. W. Pike, Bankstown, NSW, as VH-PFM on 30 September 1993. Registered to Anthony Mitchell on 30 July 2008 and based at Jandakot. Chris Godfrey acquired the aircraft in November 2014, but it has been stored at Jandakot until now. The aircraft has nose art with name “Airborne Angel”, and Vietnam War camouflage.

The Kodiak is a 10 seat Turboprop, multi-purpose aircraft. It can take off in under 1,000 feet at full gross weight and at touchdown needs only 705 feet to stop, even on rough, bumpy surfaces with full gross weight of 7,305 pounds. This example carries an external cargo compartment under the fuselage and is seen landing on runway 12 at 12:36 pm.
