VT-EVA Boeing 747-437 (cn 28094/1089) of Air India, named “Agra”

Taking off from runway 21 at Perth Airport at 11:41, back to Delhi, India as “Air India 1”.

India’s Vice-President Hamid Ansari was aboard after attending the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth.

The aircraft had originally arrived in Perth from Delhi on 27 October 2011 at 12:36, as “Air India 1”.

V5-GON Dassault Falcon 7X (cn 127) of the Republic of Namibia

Parked on the Terminal WA apron, south of the International Terminal.

Arrived in Perth via Mauritius on 26 October 2011, using its registration as the callsign.

Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba was aboard to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was held in Perth.

This aircraft is new, having only been delivered in September 2011.

Apologies for the obstructions in this photo – it was the only opportunity for a photograph.

SX-GJN Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global Express XRS (cn 9260) of Gain Jet Aviation (believed to be operated for Government of Rwanda).

Parked near Bay 50 at Perth Airport at 10:24am, a couple of hours before it departed (at 12:34pm) to Male (Maldives) (believed to have had the Rwandan President Paul Kagame aboard) after he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was held in Perth.

The aircraft first arrived in Perth via Male (Maldives) on 25 October at 6:06pm. It used the callsign “GNJ77” for both the inbound and outbound flights.

Ex C-FMMH, N74ZZ, (N542BA n.t.u.), ZS-XRS Government of Rwanda, SX-GJN Gain Jet Aviation.

V8-ALI Boeing 747-430 (cn 26426/910) of HM The Sultan’s Flight (Sultan of Brunei).

Parked at Bay 50 at Perth Airport at 10:30am, a few hours before it departed with the Sultan of Brunei aboard after he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was held in Perth. The aircraft used its registration as the callsign.

This 747 was originally ordered through Lufthansa and registered D-ABVM, but was never operated by Lufthansa, being delivered new to the Sultan of Brunei in 1992.

The Sultan of Brunei also has an Airbus A340-200, Boeing 767-200ER and Sikorsky S-70C-5 helicopter.

5N-FGT Boeing 737-7N6 BBJ of the Nigerian Air Force

Using callsign NGR01, this aircraft arrived on Monday 24 October 2011 at 8:55pm via Mauritius.

The aircraft had Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan aboard to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth, and business meetings.

The aircraft is seen here departing Perth’s runway 21 at 14:43 again using callsign NGR01, heading back to Nigeria via Mauritius with the President aboard.

Sun 30 October 2011 – PERTH : CHOGM

9M-NAA Airbus A319-115CJ (cn 2949) operated by Jet Premier One (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for the Malaysian Government.

The aircraft arrived in Perth from Kuala Lumpur (Subang) at 10:19 pm on Wednesday 26 October 2011 using callsign “NOVEMBER ROMEO 1”, with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor aboard, attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other meetings in Perth. .

It is shown here departing runway 21 at Perth at 15:57, using callsign “NOVEMBER ROMEO 1”, returning to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the Prime Minister and his wife aboard.

The logo on the tail represents the Malaysian Government’s “1-Malaysia” Concept. This on-going programme was created by the Malaysian Prime Minister so that the Government and civil servants emphasise ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance.

This aircraft visited Perth on 31 August 2011 (see earlier photos below by Les Bushell).

Sun 30 October 2011 – PERTH: CHOGM

ZS-PVX Boeing 727-2N6/Adv(RE) Super 27 (cn 22825/1805) of Fortune Air (South Africa).

The aircraft arrived in Perth at 20:02 on Friday 28 October from South Africa via Reunion and Singapore using callsign LMG 1, believed to have had South African President Jacob Zuma aboard, attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth.

Seen here departing Perth’s runway 21 at 17:34. It returned via the same route, using the same callsign.

This VIP-configured modified version of the 727 has a range of 7000 km and can carry 45 passengers. The “Super 27” modification was developed by Valsan Partners, and later marketed by Goodrich. The two older side-mounted JT8D engines have been replaced with JT8D-217R engines, as found on MD-80 aircraft, increasing speed by 80 km/h. The original centre engine is retained, but hush-kitted, and winglets have also been added.

This particular aircraft used to be the Presidential jet of Nigeria.

ZS-AMP Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global Express XRS (cn 9230) of Aralia Trading (Pty) Ltd.

Using its registration as the callsign, this aircraft arrived on Thursday 27 October 2011 at 9:03pm from South Africa via Reunion and Singapore.

The aircraft is believed to have had a South African Government delegation aboard to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth. It followed the same route as Boeing 727 ZS-PVX.

It is seen here after departure from runway 21 at Perth Airport at 17:57.

Built in 2006, ex C-FJMV, A7-GEY (Qatar Government), N57LE.

G-YMMP Boeing 777-236ER (cn 30315/369) of British Airways

Arriving on runway 03 at Perth Airport direct from London-Heathrow as flight BA9103, callsign “SPEEDBIRD 9103” at 7:46am.

The aircraft arrived to collect the Queen and Prince Philip following their 10-day tour of Australia and opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth. This is likely to be their last visit, as the Queen is now 85 years old and the Prince is 90.

The aircraft departed runway 03 as flight BA9104 (SPEEDBIRD 9104), direct to London-Heathrow, a very long 18-hour flight.

Aircraft visiting for the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth. This group was parked near the International Terminal:

4R-ADG Airbus A340-313X (cn 381) of SriLankan Airlines. This arrived from Colombo as “SriLankan 678” at 8pm on 25 October 2011. Departed as “SriLankan 679” at 7.27pm on 30 October.

V8-ALI Boeing 747-430 (cn 26426/910) of HM The Sultan’s Flight (Sultan of Brunei). Arrived from Bandar Seri Bagawan at 6.12pm on 26 October 2011. It departed at 1.29pm on 30 October. Used its registration as the callsign.

Arriving on runway 21 as flight DJ549 from Sydney at 08:17

This is one of a few Virgin Australia aircraft which is still unnamed.

The aircraft is relatively new – it first flew with Boeing test registration N1786B on 11 July 2011, and was delivered as VH-YIA on 28 July 2011. It first visited Perth on 22 August 2011.

Wears special “Qantas Australian Grand Prix 2011” markings.

Seen here on final approach to runway 03 at 12:03 as flight QF581 from Sydney, and another photo taken at 13:55 when it departed from runway 21 back to Sydney as flight QF582.

This aircraft was originally delivered to Asiana Airlines of South Korea as HL-7416 in June 1993, and was purchased by Qantas in May 1998.

This is one of a few Virgin Australia aircraft which is not yet named.

It is quite new, having made its first flight on 21 August 2011, and was delivered on 31 August 2011. It first visited Perth on 18 September 2011.

ZK-OJG Airbus A320-232 (cn 2173) of Air New Zealand

On final approach to runway 21 at 14:02 as flight NZ1961 from Canberra.

The aircraft was on a special charter with the New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully aboard to represent New Zealand at the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth.

The aircraft departed the same day to Melbourne and Christchurch at 15:25 as flight NZ6062.

Wed 26 October 2011 – PERTH : CHOGM

A36-001 Boeing 737-7DT (BBJ) (cn 30829/738) of 34 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force (leased from GECAS), based at Fairbairn (Canberra), ACT.

Arriving from Melbourne with the Queen and Prince Philip aboard, using callsign “REGAL 1” during a 10-day tour of Australia. The aircraft is seen on finals to runway 03 at Perth Airport at 16:15. They were met at Perth Airport by West Australian Premier Colin Barnett, WA Governor Malcolm McCusker and federal Defence Minister Stephen Smith with hundreds of people looking on.

In the background is VH-WAH MBB-Kawasaki BK117 of the Western Australian Police, providing security coverage.

During the stay in Perth, the Queen attended a number of official engagements before opening the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth on Friday 28 October 2011.

The Royal couple later departed direct from Perth to London Heathrow aboard a British Airways Boeing 777-200ER (G-YMMP) on Saturday 29 October.

A36-001 is one of two BBJs (Boeing Business Jets) operated by 34 Squadron for VIP duties, together with three Challenger 604 aircraft.

Saturday 22 October 2011 – PERTH

9M-MKE Airbus A330-322 (cn 077) of Malaysia Airlines

Flight MH125 from Kuala Lumpur arriving at 15:10 on runway 21.

Normally, this service is operated by a Boeing 777-2H6 ER, but the airline has announced plans to transition to A330-300s on all Perth/Kuala Lumpur services from 1 December 2011.

This is one of their older A330-322s, which have been used on the Perth services in the past. These older A330-322 aircraft will be used on the weekend MH127/MH126 service initially from 30 October 2011.

From 1 December 2011 to 14 February 2012, all 10 weekly flights will be operated by Airbus A330-322 (9M-MKA, 9M-MKC-MKJ), except MH127/126 Thursday from KUL, Friday from PER with NEW Airbus A330-323X (9M-MTA-MTH).

From 15 February 2012 to 24 March 2012 ALL Kuala Lumpur/Perth services will be operated by NEW Airbus A330-323X (9M-MTA-MTH).
