A medical emergency with a passenger aboard Airbus A380 9V-SKG resulted in a diversion to Perth Airport and the first visit to Perth by an Airbus A380 of Singapore Airlines.
9V-SKG Airbus A380-841 (MSN 019) of Singapore Airlines was operating flight SQ231 from Singapore to Sydney on 14 September 2018.
The flight departed Singapore at 1:40am and headed south south west. However, a 70-year old male passenger suffered a serious medical issue and at 4:27am, air traffic control was advised the flight would divert to Perth.
At 4:29am , 324 kilometres off the Pilbara coast north of Karratha, the aircraft turned south to divert to Perth.
