29 March 2011:
CHC Helicopters has won the lucrative Woodside Energy offshore helicopter services contract, serving the North-West Shelf oil and gas platforms.
CHC will use four 19-seat Eurocopter EC225s and two 12-15 seat AgustaWestland AW139s based in Karratha.
It is believed to be the largest helicopter service contract ever awarded in Australia, worth $300 million over the next five years, with options to extend the contract for another four years. CHC will start operations for Woodside in June 2011.
CHC beat previous incumbent Bristow Helicopters, which has held the Woodside contract for most of the last 30 years, apart from a period in the mid-1990s when Lloyd Helicopters got the contract.
