Air New Zealand will commence twice weekly direct flights between Christchurch, New Zealand and Perth, Western Australia, from 3 December 2013 to 26 April 2014, using Boeing 767-319ER aircraft.
The five-month trial is to serve demand during the peak travel period, but if successful, the service could become permanent.
Up to 25,000 people travel between Christchurch and Perth annually, and the new direct flight cuts travel time between the two cities by up to three hours, compared to flying via Auckland.
