AirAsia X plans to increase its flights to Australian capitals, including additional flights to Perth.
The airline plans to have twice daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, increasing from the current nine flights per week to 14. The plans were included in a prospectus lodged with Malaysia’s Securities Commission in May 2013.
The current fleet of AirAsia X consists of 13 A330-300s and two A340s. The airline has a further 19 A330s on order – seven to be delivered in 2013, seven in 2014 and five in 2015. Ten A350s are also on order for delivery after 2018. Their CEO has stated that more orders are likely; Thai AirAsia X is to be launched soon, followed by a similar venture in Indonesia, and the airline is looking to increase frequencies on current routes as well as establishing new routes.
