Thanks for the info David, what are your thoughts on an Emirates A380 soon? Will they bring it in on the 1st of March as rumoured to increase capacity given one of the daily scheduled flights will be dropped for a few months? What about the Qatar 787? Any thoughts on when this may be starting?
Hi Scott,
There has been no official confirmation from Emirates and nothing on their booking system to indicate any Perth A380 services this year. However, during 30 April to 19 July 2014, flights EK422/423 will not operate due to runway maintenance at Dubai International Airport. This means a reduction to two daily services, so there is the possibility that Emirates may use A380s on one of these, in order to maintain capacity. This is just conjecture though – we will have to wait for further announcements from the airline.
Regarding Qatar using the Boeing 787 on Perth services, I have no idea when these will be starting. They have been using the larger 777-300ER on Perth services more often recently, so it may be unlikely that they will use the smaller 787s – it all depends on demand and availability of the 787s.
Regards,
David
Regarding QR 787. I would say no. If by the odd chance they announce 787 it will be on the back of a second daily service i would assume. The cargo both inbound and outbound I believe is too much for the 787 to handle.
That’s great news for Qatar that the route is a success, I guess we will have to wait for October for the Air NZ 787-9.
I live in Success where aircraft from the west (Emitates, Qatar, South African etc) fly directly overhead at 3000 feet when landing on Runway 03, they are so majestic and quiet gliding in, just can’t wait to have a daily A380 cruise by!
