Perth Airport held a media event this evening, to provide a preview of the newly-completed Virgin Australia Terminal 1 Domestic Pier, which opens on Sunday 22 November 2015.
Perth Airport CEO Brad Geatches and Virgin Australia Group CEO John Borghetti toured the new T1 Domestic Terminal.
The new terminal pier was built specifically for Virgin Australia and designed by Australian-based international architects, Woods Bagot.
Virgin Australia currently operates from three terminals on opposite sides of the airport, and the opening of the new T1 Domestic Terminal will enable Virgin to move its domestic interstate flights from Terminal 3, on the west side of the airport, to the new Domestic Pier at Terminal 1, located on the east side. This will consolidate all of Virgin’s regional/FIFO, interstate and international services together for the first time, making it easier for passengers to transfer between flights. The terminal also features Virgin’s new self check-in service.
The first flight at the new terminal will be Virgin Australia flight VA713 from Adelaide at 7.35am and the first departing flight will be VA714 to Adelaide at 8.10am on Sunday 22 November 2015.
