This is the eighth and final C-17 to be delivered to the RAAF, received only a few days before this photo. Initially allocated USAF serial 14-0001, on 20 June 2014 it was registered N270ZD to Boeing Co. Long Beach, California, until 3 June 2015. Allocated RAAF serial A41-212, on 2 November 2015 it arrived at its home base, RAAF Amberley in Queensland and on 5 November 2015 was present at an acceptance ceremony marking the final C-17 delivery. This aircraft has been operating on exercises in the Perth area for a few days. It is seen here passing over Great Northern Highway as it landed on runway 23.
