AviationWA was invited to fly in vintage aircraft formations for the Australia Day City of Perth Air Show 2016, held over the Swan River, Perth, Western Australia on 26 January 2016.
We also interviewed pilot Werner Buhlmann, who started the air show in 1993 and still plays a key role in organising it.
See our extensive photo coverage and information under the following links, or browse under the Aircraft Photos heading in the menu.

This aircraft was built by De Havilland Aircraft at Bankstown, NSW in 1945, and was delivered to the RAAF as A17-757. It was sold in 1956 and became VH-RNQ with Royal Newcastle Aero Club, Broadmeadow, NSW, but was damaged in 1959 and sold for spares. Barry Markham restored the aircraft in 1991 as VH-NOV and in 1998, set a number of records when he flew it from Perth to London, to raise funds for the RFDS.

Hi, my wife and I attended the Australia Day airshow, which was absolutely magnificent indeed, and we took many photos on that beautiful day.
The Squirrel helicopter towing the flags, do you happen to know its rego. as couldnt make it out in my photos.
I retired from civil aviation 2 years ago, after 47 years in the business though still have a keen interest.
Love your website, keeps me up to date.
Merv.
Hi Merv,
Thanks for the compliment.
