All Nippon Airways (ANA) of Japan will commence Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner services direct between Tokyo-Narita and Perth from 1 September 2019.
ANA is the first Japanese airline to provide services to Perth. Previous flights between Tokyo and Perth were operated by Qantas, which flew three times per week using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, until ending services in 2011.
Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown noted “According to Tourism Research Australia, despite not currently having a direct service, Japan has become Perth’s ninth largest international visitor market with 28,700 Japanese visitors arriving into WA each year and spending $60 million.”
“We have seen extraordinary passenger growth between Japan and Perth last year, totalling nearly 140,000 passengers.” .
Japan is also popular with Australian tourists and business travellers.
The direct flight will take 10 hours, with the schedule as follows (local times):
- NH 881: Narita 11:10 to Perth 20:15
- NH 882: Perth 21:45 to Tokyo-Narita 08:25 next day
ANA’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners have 32 Business Class, 14 Premium Economy and 152 Economy Class seats, with WiFi available: A$10 for 30 minutes, A$24 for 3 hours, or A$30 for the whole flight. Other types of aircraft might also be used.
ANA is also member of the Star Alliance group, enabling passengers to earn or redeem miles on ANA flights with other Star Alliance member airlines, such as Singapore Airlines.
