Qantas announced today that it had acquired a 19.9% stake in Allicance Airlines for $60 million and it hopes to acquire a majority stakeholding.
Any such move would require approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
Qantas is not yet seeking involvement in the management of Alliance yet.
Alliance has bases in Perth, Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Darwin.
