
RA-76503 Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD (MSN 2113422748) of Volga-Dnepr Airlines at Perth Airport – 3 June 2019. Delivered new to Volga-Dnepr in December 2011, this aircraft arrived in Perth on 24 May 2019, bringing oversized mining equipment to Perth. This is an Il-76TD with Aviadvigatel PS-90 engines and a partial glass cockpit. It was developed specially for Volga-Dnepr cargo company. Aviation Association of Western Australia Inc (AAWA) was invited to have a close-up look around RA-76503 Ilyushin Il-76TD-90VD of Volga-Dnepr Airlines.
Great write up on the IL-76 and terrific photos. When I worked as a duty airport manager at PER, I used to meet the IL-76, AN 12 and AN 124s to collect the landing fees from the skipper. They usually had a thick wad of notes comprising rubles, Euros and dollars so always a job counting it out in the cockpit.
T he AN 12 cockpit was cramped and very busy, the IL-76 a little less so, but always an interesting job as part of my duties.
