Kintore gold mine, seen from aboard VH-YFV Boeing 737-8FE (MSN 41030/5641) of Virgin Australia, named ‘Princess Charlotte Bay’, on flight VA1849 Perth to Kalgoorlie – 1 July 2019. Located 47km northwest of Kalgoorlie. Little remains of this historic mining area, next to Coolgardie North Road, just south of its intersection with the Jaurdi Hills Road. The gold mine was active from 1895 to 1898, then worked on by prospectors. The mine possibly became active again in the 1930s, and in 1946 some further work was done, but little gold was found. The site has since been bulldozed and used as road base storage site. Photo © David Eyre.
