Construction has commenced of a new pay-per-use premium airport lounge in Terminal 1 International at Perth Airport.
Sadly for aviation enthusiasts and the general public, the 530 square metres lounge replaces the eastern half of the Observation Deck on Level 3 in Terminal 1, including access to the public toilets. This eliminates views of aircraft parking bays 154 – 156 and 160 – 161. However, the western half of the Observation Deck will still be accessible to the public, providing views of bays 149 – 153 and 162 – 163.
The lounge will also use the space previously occupied by the former Perth Airport Operations Control Centre, providing lounge users with an excellent panoramic view from the semi-circular windows and of course views of along the eastern end of what was the Observation Deck.
The new lounge is due to be ready in early-2021 and will connect to the international departures area. Tickets will be available for pre-order online, at $55 + GST per visit (i.e. $60.50) for a three-hour visit. There will also be a range of loyalty or airline affiliations, yet to be announced, which will grant some passengers free access to the lounge.
