VH-PLJ Hughes 369D 500D (with 500E nose) of Aeropower Pty Ltd at Jandakot Airport, Western Australia – 10 December 2022. Used for power line inspection and maintenance. MSN 128-0445D, built in 1979, registered 9 July 1993, ex P2-PHQ. On 19 November 2008, this aircraft crashed 13km north of Murray Bridge, SA, during airborne joint-testing operations on an electricity transmission line between Mannum and Mobilong, South Australia. The main rotor contacted a transmission line conductor, the pilot lost control and the helicopter crashed. One lineworker was fatally injured, the other lineworker received minor injuries and the pilot received serious injuries. The helicopter was seriously damaged, but later rebuilt. Photo © David Eyre.
