The first Airbus A330neo to visit Australia was made today by 3B-NBV Airbus A330-941 (MSN 1890) of Air Mauritius, named ‘Chagos Archipelago’.
The aircraft arrived on runway 03 at 9:09am, operating flight MK440 from Mauritius. The aircraft was greeted by a water cannon salute from the Perth Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting service as it taxied in to park at bay 150.
At 1:16pm, the return flight to Mauritius, MK441 taxied to runway 03 and took off at 1:19pm.
The A330neo is powered by the new Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, with new engine pylons and new winglets. It improves the fuel burn per seat by 14% over earlier versions of the A330. It has longer range than the earlier A330, lower maintenance costs, and shares 95% parts commonality. Over 300 orders had been received at time of writing.
3B-NBV was first flown at Toulouse, France on 13 May 2019 with test registration F-WWCX. On 19 June 2019, it was handed over to Air Mauritius at Toulouse registered 3B-NBV, but flown to Paris Le Bourget to appear at the 2019 Paris Air Show. It was delivered on 20 June 2019 to Mauritius.
