Photo © David Eyre. Held on 27 and 28 November 2019 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Resources Technology Showcase 2019 displayed the technology of the mining, oil and gas companies.
The free event covered technologies including artificial intelligence, augmented reality, data analytics and autonomous transport and was attended by resources company executives, school students and members of the public.
Japanese company INPEX was one of the participants, bringing a Sikorsky S-92A Helibus of PHI International, VH-ISP, from their base in Broome. PHI operates eight S-92s in Australia. PHI originally partnered with HNZ Group in December 2016, before HNZ sold its operations to PHI in December 2017.
VH-ISP flew from Broome to Meekatharra and Perth Airport on 23 November 2019, where the rotors were removed. It was then trucked to the Exhibition Centre and reassembled.
After the show, the rotors were again removed and it was trucked back to Perth Airport. After a test flight on 30 November, on 1 December 2019 it flew Perth Airport – Meekatharra – Newman – Broome.
