VT-EVA Boeing 747-437 (cn 28094/1089) of Air India, named "Agra"

Taking off from runway 21 at Perth Airport at 11:41, back to Delhi, India as "Air India 1".

India's Vice-President Hamid Ansari was aboard after attending the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth.

The aircraft had originally arrived in Perth from Delhi on 27 October 2011 at 12:36, as "Air India 1".

V5-GON Dassault Falcon 7X (cn 127) of the Republic of Namibia

Parked on the Terminal WA apron, south of the International Terminal.

Arrived in Perth via Mauritius on 26 October 2011, using its registration as the callsign.

Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba was aboard to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was held in Perth.

This aircraft is new, having only been delivered in September 2011.

Apologies for the obstructions in this photo - it was the only opportunity for a photograph.

SX-GJN Bombardier BD-700-1A10 Global Express XRS (cn 9260) of Gain Jet Aviation (believed to be operated for Government of Rwanda).

Parked near Bay 50 at Perth Airport at 10:24am, a couple of hours before it departed (at 12:34pm) to Male (Maldives) (believed to have had the Rwandan President Paul Kagame aboard) after he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was held in Perth.

The aircraft first arrived in Perth via Male (Maldives) on 25 October at 6:06pm. It used the callsign "GNJ77" for both the inbound and outbound flights.

Ex C-FMMH, N74ZZ, (N542BA n.t.u.), ZS-XRS Government of Rwanda, SX-GJN Gain Jet Aviation.

V8-ALI Boeing 747-430 (cn 26426/910) of HM The Sultan's Flight (Sultan of Brunei).

Parked at Bay 50 at Perth Airport at 10:30am, a few hours before it departed with the Sultan of Brunei aboard after he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was held in Perth. The aircraft used its registration as the callsign.

This 747 was originally ordered through Lufthansa and registered D-ABVM, but was never operated by Lufthansa, being delivered new to the Sultan of Brunei in 1992.

The Sultan of Brunei also has an Airbus A340-200, Boeing 767-200ER and Sikorsky S-70C-5 helicopter.

Using callsign NGR01, this aircraft arrived on Monday 24 October 2011 at 8:55pm via Mauritius.

The aircraft had Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan aboard to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth, and business meetings.

The aircraft is seen here departing Perth's runway 21 at 14:43 again using callsign NGR01, heading back to Nigeria via Mauritius with the President aboard.

9M-NAA Airbus A319-115CJ (cn 2949) operated by Jet Premier One (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for the Malaysian Government.

The aircraft arrived in Perth from Kuala Lumpur (Subang) at 10:19 pm on Wednesday 26 October 2011 using callsign "NOVEMBER ROMEO 1", with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor aboard, attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other meetings in Perth. .

It is shown here departing runway 21 at Perth at 15:57, using callsign "NOVEMBER ROMEO 1", returning to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the Prime Minister and his wife aboard.

The logo on the tail represents the Malaysian Government's "1-Malaysia" Concept. This on-going programme was created by the Malaysian Prime Minister so that the Government and civil servants emphasise ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance.

This aircraft visited Perth on 31 August 2011 (see earlier photos below by Les Bushell).

ZS-PVX Boeing 727-2N6/Adv(RE) Super 27 (cn 22825/1805) of Fortune Air (South Africa).

The aircraft arrived in Perth at 20:02 on Friday 28 October from South Africa via Reunion and Singapore using callsign LMG 1, believed to have had South African President Jacob Zuma aboard, attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth.

Seen here departing Perth's runway 21 at 17:34. It returned via the same route, using the same callsign.

This VIP-configured modified version of the 727 has a range of 7000 km and can carry 45 passengers. The "Super 27" modification was developed by Valsan Partners, and later marketed by Goodrich. The two older side-mounted JT8D engines have been replaced with JT8D-217R engines, as found on MD-80 aircraft, increasing speed by 80 km/h. The original centre engine is retained, but hush-kitted, and winglets have also been added.

This particular aircraft used to be the Presidential jet of Nigeria.

Using its registration as the callsign, this aircraft arrived on Thursday 27 October 2011 at 9:03pm from South Africa via Reunion and Singapore.

The aircraft is believed to have had a South African Government delegation aboard to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth. It followed the same route as Boeing 727 ZS-PVX.

It is seen here after departure from runway 21 at Perth Airport at 17:57.

G-YMMP Boeing 777-236ER (cn 30315/369) of British Airways

Arriving on runway 03 at Perth Airport direct from London-Heathrow as flight BA9103, callsign "SPEEDBIRD 9103" at 7:46am.

The aircraft arrived to collect the Queen and Prince Philip following their 10-day tour of Australia and opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Perth. This is likely to be their last visit, as the Queen is now 85 years old and the Prince is 90.

The aircraft departed runway 03 as flight BA9104 (SPEEDBIRD 9104), direct to London-Heathrow, a very long 18-hour flight.

V8-ALI Boeing 747-430 (cn 26426/910) of HM The Sultan's Flight (Sultan of Brunei). Arrived from Bandar Seri Bagawan at 6.12pm on 26 October 2011. It departed at 1.29pm on 30 October. Used its registration as the callsign.

This is one of a few Virgin Australia aircraft which is still unnamed.

The aircraft is relatively new - it first flew with Boeing test registration N1786B on 11 July 2011, and was delivered as VH-YIA on 28 July 2011. It first visited Perth on 22 August 2011.

This aircraft was originally delivered to Asiana Airlines of South Korea as HL-7416 in June 1993, and was purchased by Qantas in May 1998.

The aircraft was on a special charter with the New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully aboard to represent New Zealand at the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth.

The aircraft departed the same day to Melbourne and Christchurch at 15:25 as flight NZ6062.

A36-001 Boeing 737-7DT (BBJ) (cn 30829/738) of 34 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force (leased from GECAS), based at Fairbairn (Canberra), ACT.

Arriving from Melbourne with the Queen and Prince Philip aboard, using callsign "REGAL 1" during a 10-day tour of Australia. The aircraft is seen on finals to runway 03 at Perth Airport at 16:15. They were met at Perth Airport by West Australian Premier Colin Barnett, WA Governor Malcolm McCusker and federal Defence Minister Stephen Smith with hundreds of people looking on.

In the background is VH-WAH MBB-Kawasaki BK117 of the Western Australian Police, providing security coverage.

During the stay in Perth, the Queen attended a number of official engagements before opening the 54-nation, 3-day Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth on Friday 28 October 2011.

The Royal couple later departed direct from Perth to London Heathrow aboard a British Airways Boeing 777-200ER (G-YMMP) on Saturday 29 October.

A36-001 is one of two BBJs (Boeing Business Jets) operated by 34 Squadron for VIP duties, together with three Challenger 604 aircraft.

Saturday 22 October 2011 - PERTH

9M-MKE Airbus A330-322 (cn 077) of Malaysia Airlines

Flight MH125 from Kuala Lumpur arriving at 15:10 on runway 21.

Normally, this service is operated by a Boeing 777-2H6 ER, but the airline has announced plans to transition to A330-300s on all Perth/Kuala Lumpur services from 1 December 2011.

This is one of their older A330-322s, which have been used on the Perth services in the past. These older A330-322 aircraft will be used on the weekend MH127/MH126 service initially from 30 October 2011.

From 1 December 2011 to 14 February 2012, all 10 weekly flights will be operated by Airbus A330-322 (9M-MKA, 9M-MKC-MKJ), except MH127/126 Thursday from KUL, Friday from PER with NEW Airbus A330-323X (9M-MTA-MTH).

From 15 February 2012 to 24 March 2012 ALL Kuala Lumpur/Perth services will be operated by NEW Airbus A330-323X (9M-MTA-MTH).

Monday 19 September 2011 - PERTH

UR-AAG Boeing 767-33A ER (cn 25532/442) of AeroSvit Ukrainian Airlines (leased from Strawberry Fields Aviation Ltd).

This unusual visitor arrived the previous night at 21:39 on runway 21 as flight VV2701, from Odessa (Ukraine), Tel Aviv (Israel), & Bangkok (Thailand). It is seen here parked at Bay 61 near Perth's International Terminal.

It was chartered by Gennadiy Bogolyubov, a Ukrainian billionaire who controls Australia's biggest manganese mine. Bogolyubov does a great deal of travelling to monitor his global businesses, which include mining, oil, construction, banking, and agriculture on four continents.

Bogolyubov flew to Perth with his right-hand man, Oleg Sheiko, and they were the only passengers on the 250-seat Boeing 767.

Bogolyubov was here to investigate investment opportunities. After arriving in Perth, the two flew on a chartered 10-seat business jet to Woodie Woodie manganese mine, which Bogolyubov purchased in 2007 for $1.3 billion. In mid-week, Bogolyubov flew from Perth to Sydney for meetings about launching a shares offering.

This particular aircraft visited Perth many times when it was flown by Royal Brunei, registered as V8-RBG, as seen in the photo below, taken at Perth on 3 November 2005.

It was originally delivered to Royal Brunei on 28 September 1992, and continued in service until replaced by former Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-212ER aircraft. V8-RBG was repainted in AeroSvit colours by February 2011 and registered on lease to AeroSvit as UR-AAG on 25 March 2011, but is owned by Strawberry Fields Aviation Ltd.

On finals to runway 03 at Perth Airport at 12:14 and 13:44 whilst performing flight inspection operations.

The aircraft had arrived the previous day from Adelaide via Esperance using callsign "Auscal 2".

VH-VHD Airbus A319-115CJ (cn 1999) of Skytraders.

From November to March each year, this aircraft operates on behalf of the Australian Government's Australian Antarctic Division on a weekly service from the Division's base in Hobart, Tasmania to an ice runway at Wilkins, Antarctica (hence the "Snowbird" radio callsign). Apart from this, the A319 is available for private charter.

On finals to runway 03 at Perth Airport at 10.20am, arriving from Melbourne and using callsign "Snowbird 1". It departed just over an hour later, returning to Melbourne with the same callsign.

First flown 10 July 2003 with test registration D-AVYQ.
To F-GYAS Aero Services Executive (leased from CIT Leasing Corporation) on 31 October 2003.
Sub-leased to Air France from 22 January 2004.
Returned to CIT Leasing Corporation at Toulouse, France on 31 January 2007.
Converted to Long Range configuration at Perpignan, France during January 2007.

The aircraft is shown on finals to runway 21 at Perth at 17:04, using callsign "NOVEMBER ROMEO 1", arriving from Singapore-Changi. The aircraft stayed overnight.

The logo on the tail represents the Malaysian Government's "1-Malaysia" Concept. This on-going programme was created by the Malaysian Prime Minister so that the Government and civil servants emphasise ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance.

The aircraft is shown on finals to runway 21 at Perth at 17:04, using callsign "NOVEMBER ROMEO 1", arriving from Singapore-Changi. The aircraft stayed overnight.

Originally ordered for the Royal Malaysia Air Force.
First flown on 29 Nov 2006 as D-AXVC, and delivered to the Malaysian Government (still as D-AXVC) on 12 Dec 2006. To 9M-NAA Malysian Government on 14 Aug 2007.

This aircraft is on contract to FMG (Fortescue Metals Group), and flies between Perth and Cloudbreak iron ore mine (Fortescue Dave Forrest Airport), 1123 kilometres NNE of Perth.

It is believed to be the largest aircraft to be used on Fly In, Fly Out resource charter flights.

Seen here arriving on runway 21 at Perth at 16:46 from Cloudbreak.

First flown on 24 April 1993 as F-WWIZ with Airbus, it was leased to a number of airlines during its life - it became N429RX, EI-TLE, G-BYTH, D-ASSR, G-BYTH, C-GTDM, G-BYTH, C-GTDM, G-BYTH, C-GTDM, G-BYTH, C-GTDM, and G-BYTH again, before becoming VH-FNP with Skywest on 7 April 2010.

FMG Air is part of the Western Australian iron ore mining company Fortescue Metals Group, which is run by Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest.

This aircraft was built in 1999, registered as C-GDXX with Bombardier. Registered in February 1999 as N700KS, it was leased to movie company Dreamworks LLC in April 2000. Reregistered in March 2003 as N708KS. Delivered in January 2004 to Jet Asia in Macau. Registered in October 2004 as HB-JEN and operated by ExecuJet Europe/Allied Air AG.

In October 2009 it was registered as N900LF and leased from 13 May 2010 to Perth-based AVWest Pty Ltd, and operated for FMG Air Pty Ltd. On 1 February 2011, the aircraft was registered as VH-FMG to FMG Air Pty Ltd, still operated by AVWest Pty Ltd.

VH-URR Canadair CL600-2B16 (CL-604) Challenger 604 (cn 5439) of AVWest, operated for SC Aviation.

On finals to runway 03 at Perth Airport at 16:15.

This aircraft was built in 1999, and registered N600ES to Earth Star Inc, which is the corporate flight department for the Walt Disney Company. In May 2008, it was reregistered as N300ES, and then in December 2010 as N350ES.

On 14 February 2011, whilst still registered as N350ES, it arrived in Perth from Honiara on the last leg of its delivery flight from the USA. It was registered on 16 February as VH-URR to SC Aviation, operated by AVWest.

VH-QQE De Havilland Canada DHC-8-102 Dash 8 (cn 173) of Maroomba Airlines (leased from Skytrans).

This aircraft was delivered to Perth on 6 March 2011, replacing VH-QQA, which was returned to Skytrans.

It was originally delivered to America West as N808AW in September 1989, and later went to US Air Express as N821AX in 1993 before going to Queensland Regional Airlines (which later became Skytrans) in 2006 as VH-QQE.

VH-FKX Fokker 50 (cn 20312) of Alliance Airlines

Arriving at 14:27 from Adelaide, landing on runway 03 at Perth Airport, with callsign "UNITY 881".

On its second visit to Perth - the first visit was photographed by Les Bushell on 7 July 2011 (see photo below).

This is believed to be the last of a series of Alliance Fokker 50 special charter flights.

This aircraft made its first flight on 3 October 1996 with Fokker test registration PH-JCR. Delivered as B-12276 to Formosa Airlines on 19 October 1996. Formosa Airlines merged with Mandarin Airlines in August 1999. In July 2007, it was delivered to Alliance Airlines and was registered in Australia as VH-FKX on 9 August 2007.

Landing on runway 03 at Perth Airport at 14:39 as flight QF1923 from Ayers Rock.

This aircraft was built at Long Beach, California in August 2000, and delivered to Impulse Airlines as VH-SMH on 8 September 2000. Transferred to QantasLink but operated by Impulse on 27 May 2001. Reregistered as VH-VQE on 2 November 2002. Transferred to Jetstar on 25 May 2004. To National Jet Systems for operation on behalf of QantasLink on 1 July 2005, and reregistered as VH-NXE on 25 July 2005.

QantasLink operates 717s to the WA towns of Broome, Learmonth, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Port Hedland, Paraburdoo and Newman; and to Ayers Rock in the Northern Territory.

The aircraft has been fitted with huge decals to support the Wallabies for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. The green and gold decals cover most of the side of the fuselage. The kangaroo on the tail is also now carrying a green and gold rugby ball and the QANTAS and Spirit of Australia titles have been removed. The name "Toowoomba" has been relocated to just behind the cockpit windows - it is normally on the rear fuselage.

18 July was Mandela Day - the international day devoted to public service, which is also Nelson Mandela's birthday. South African Airways is adding an orange-and-black logo of a silhouetted Nelson Mandela to all 58 of its aircraft, positioned on the forward fuselage near cabin doors.

This photo shows that the starboard side is bare, so the logo is only applied to the port (left) side of the fuselage. See our photos of the port side of this same aircraft wearing the logo sticker, taken on 18 July 2011.

Note that this old 737-476 is now wearing the revised Qantas livery. The 737-400s are being replaced by 737-800s, so this seems like a waste of paint.

PK-GFN Boeing 737-86N (cn 38033/3607) of Garuda Indonesia (leased from GECAS).

Seen on finals to Perth Airport runway 21 at 13:50, operating flight GA724 from Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali).

PK-GFN is painted in a special retro colour scheme that was used by Garuda from 1969 to 1985, as detailed on the forward fuselage by the words "BRAND LOGO 1969 - 1985". The aircraft entered service on 15 April 2011.

It first visited Perth on 22 May 2011, and Michael Davis photographed it on the ground 4 June 2011 (see below).

VH-SWO Embraer 170 (cn 17000081) of Airnorth

Climbing after takeoff from Perth Airport runway 03 at 13:05.

Airnorth operates Embraer 170s between Kununurra (in the far north of Western Australia) and Perth, a 2.5 hour flight. Flight TL340 from Kununurra arrives in Perth at 12:15, and returns to Kununurra as flight TL341 at 13:00, on Saturdays and Sundays.

Built in 2005 and registered B-KXA to Hong Kong Express. Re-registered VH-SWO to the now defunct airline SkyAirWorld on 8 March 2007. It was leased to Solomon Airlines for a while in 2007, painted in a colourful blue/green/yellow colourscheme. It was based in Perth for a while after that as a back-up aircraft when National Jet (now Cobham) was undergoing some industrial action.

The E-170 was previously demonstrated to National Jet as a potential BAe 146 replacement, but they did not take up the type due to high lease costs.

VH-PPF Dornier 328-100 (cn 3057) of Pearl Aviation Australia /AeroRescue Pty Ltd, operated for Customs and AMSA.

On finals to runway 03 at Perth Airport at 13:51.

AeroRescue is a subsidiary of Darwin-based Pearl Aviation Australia, a subsidiary of Paspaley Pearls Group – hence the "PP" in its aircraft registrations.

AeroRescue operates a fleet of five Dornier 328 turboprops with the one aircraft each based at Perth, Darwin, Cairns, Brisbane and Melbourne. The aircraft are modified for SAR (Search And Rescue) and operate under a 10-year contract to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). When not used for SAR duties, the aircraft are also used for pollution detection and by Customs / Border Protection for maritime suveillance duties, using Customs callsigns.

This aircraft first flew as D-CDXY with Dornier in Germany. Delivered 19.10.1995 as N439JS to US Air Express/ Jetstream International (renamed PSA Airlines in 11.1995). Returned to Dornier as D-CAAD, it was converted to Search and Rescue/Surveillance configuration. Registered VH-PPF Pearl Aviation / AMSA 1.8.06.

This aircraft was delivered on 28 March 2011 in an all-white colourscheme, as at that date Virgin Blue had not yet launched their re-branding as Virgin Australia.

It first visited Perth on 31 May 2011 in its all-white scheme (see our photos below taken on Fri 3 June 2011).

On 27 July 2011 it re-entered service in Virgin Australia livery after repainting in Sydney.

ZK-TLE Boeing 737-3S1(SF) (cn 24834/1896) of Airwork, operated for Toll Priority.

On finals to Perth Airport runway 03 at 17:06 as flight TFR92 from Christmas Island.

Toll Priority is a freight company which includes a cargo airline managed by their Toll Air Express business unit, operating between most of the capital cities within Australia. In Western Australia, Toll uses Boeing 737-300SF freighters registered in New Zealand and leased from Airwork (New Zealand). The aircraft usually operate from the Domestic Cargo Terminal, alongside the Australian Air Express Boeing 737-300SFs. Toll also leases light aircraft and two ATR42 freighters, but these do not visit WA.

This aircraft was built in July 1990 as a passenger aircraft, leased to TACA International (El Salvador) as N371TA. It was leased to Freedom Air (New Zealand) April 1996 - April 1997, then returned to TACA.
Leased to Varig (Brazil) as PP-VPF August 1997 to May 2006, then returned to the lessor, Wells Fargo Bank Northwest, as N371TA.
From June 2006, it was leased to Hemus Air in Bulgaria as LZ-HVB and transferred to Bulgaria Air on 28 May 2007.
On 3 December 2010, it was sold to Aurora Leasing as N919GF and flown Sofia (Bulgaria) to Santa Maria to Miami, for conversion from passenger to freighter configuration on 17 December 2010.

It was delivered on 18 April 2011 to Airwork in New Zealand as ZK-TLE, wearing Toll colours. It first visited Perth on 29 June 2011.

On finals to Perth Airport runway 03 at 16:07 as flight DJ559 from Sydney.

This aircraft was delivered in an all-white scheme to Virgin Blue on 26 April 2011, as this was just prior to the official launch of the name Virgin Australia. It is one of a few Virgin aircraft which does not yet carry a name.

RA-76952 Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD (cn 2093422743 / 94-06) of Volga-Dnepr Airlines

** FIRST VISIT **

This aircraft arrived at Perth Airport at 18:39 the previous night, as VDA6032 from Denpasar (Bali).

It is seen here departing runway 03 at 14:56 using callsign "Victor Delta Alpha 6033" to Chennai (Madras), India.

Older variants of the IL-76 with the low-bypass Soloviev D-30KP turbofans are banned from operating to Australia due to noise restrictions.

However, the IL-76TD-90VD is an Il-76TD fitted with quieter and more economical Aviadvigatel PS-90A-76 engines and a partial glass cockpit. This version was developed specially for the Russian cargo airline Volga-Dnepr. The first aircraft flew in August 2005.

RA-76952 is quite a new aircraft - it was built at the Tashkent Chkalov Aviation Factory, and was delivered in March 2010, entering service in May 2010.

VH-OEJ Boeing 747-438ER (cn 32914/1331) of Qantas

Painted in special "Wunala Dreaming" colours.

On finals to Perth Airport runway 03 at 15:47 as flight QF581 from Sydney.

In 1994, Qantas commissioned Adelaide firm Balarinji Designs to create this scheme. Aboriginal and non-aboriginal artists used designs from Northern and Central Australia, and natural colours of the Australian landscape. The 'Wunala Dreaming' is an aboriginal legend from the Yanyuwa people in the Gulf of Carpenteria - spirit ancestors in the form of kangaroos (Wunala) make tracks from camps to waterholes, leading the people to water and food.

The Wunala Dreaming painting was magnified 100 times to generate 2 kilometres of blotting paper. This allowed the 67 patterns to be traced onto the aircraft.

VH-OJB, a standard Boeing 747-438, was first painted in the Wunala Dreaming scheme from September 1994.
VH-OJB had previously worn the standard Qantas colourscheme before being painted in the Wunala Dreaming scheme.

With the impending delivery of Boeing 747-438ER VH-OEJ, VH-OJB was repainted in standard Qantas colours during March 2003.

VH-OEJ was first flown in July 2003 in an all-red scheme with the Qantas kangaroo on the tail ready for repainting in the full Wunala Dreaming scheme during August 2003 before being delivered to Qantas.

VH-OEJ is one of only six Boeing 747-400ER passenger aircraft built. The 747-400ER (Extended Range) was launched on 28 November 2000 by an order for six aircraft placed by Qantas, which was the only order Boeing received for the passenger version.

The -400ER can fly approximately 7,713 nautical miles (14,297 km), which is 500 miles (805 km) more than the standard -400 model. Alternatively, it can carry 15,000 lb (6,800 kg) more payload. The 747-400ER includes the option of one or two additional 3,240 US gallon body fuel tanks in the forward cargo hold.

Boeing later launched a -400ERF freighter version, which achieved 40 orders.

VH-FKF Fokker 100 (cn 11365) of Alliance Airlines

On finals to Perth Airport runway 03 at 15:01.

VH-FKF is a former US Air (later US Airways) aircraft (ex N890US), built in 1991. It was delivered to Alliance in 2005. Its registration VH-FKF was previously used by a Fokker F.28 of Ansett WA.

Alliance Airlines is based in Brisbane, Queensland, but has a hub at Perth Airport. Alliance provides FIFO (Fly In/Fly Out) services to the resources industry, aircraft charter services (long-term or ad-hoc) and aircraft leasing.

Alliance now has 13 Fokker 100s, two Fokker 70s and 6 Fokker 50s. It currently only operates Fokker 100s regularly in WA, but will soon also fly their F70s here.

The F100s are used on resources flights from Brisbane to Telfer (for Byrnecut Mining at Newcrest's Telfer gold mine); Perth to Mount Keith and Perth to Leinster for BHP Billiton Nickel West. Alliance also flies from Perth to Karratha three times per week.

** Note that the aircraft is carrying a spare engine, to replace the engine on another Qantas Boeing 747 that had an engine failure after leaving Johannesberg for Sydney a few days ago.

The aircraft is wearing a Nelson Mandela Day decal on the forward fuselage.

18 July is Mandela Day - the international day devoted to public service, which is also Nelson Mandela's birthday.

South African Airways is adding this orange-and-black logo of a silhouetted Nelson Mandela to all 58 of its aircraft, positioned on the forward fuselage near cabin doors.

The aircraft wears a "Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia" decal and ribbon aft of the wing.

Delivered to Sydney on 10 July 2011, and entered service only two days ago operating as QF402/QF429 between Sydney and Melbourne.

The aircraft arrived in Perth as flight QF475 from Melbourne at 12:30.

Parked at Bay 60 at Perth's International Apron, it arrived from Beijing, China at 18:55 on the previous night.

** FIRST VISIT TO PERTH **

The BBJ (Boeing Business Jet) is a corporate/VIP configured version of the Boeing 737.

Deer Jet is based at Beijing and is a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines of China. It only operates charter flights, using a fleet of corporate jets.

To be named "Eurong Beach", but not yet wearing this name.

The aircraft is nearly new - it was delivered to Brisbane on 30 June 2011, and entered service on 6 July 2011.

** FIRST VISIT TO PERTH **

Note the line of Skippers Aviation aircraft parked behind. Their aircraft are temporarily parked on taxiways H1, H2 and F whilst Skippers' apron is being redesigned with new line markings.

Chris H advised that this is to allow for more Dash 8 power out bays. The Dash 8s will park and powerout from where the Brasilias used to park, and the Brasilias, Metro 23s and Cessna 441 Conquests will now be in front of the Skippers hangars.

VH-FKX Fokker 50 (cn 20312) of Alliance Airlines

Arriving at 13:57 from Adelaide, landing on runway 21 at Perth Airport, with callsign "UNITY 885".

We believe that this is its first visit to Perth and the second Alliance F50 to arrive in Perth for special charter flights.

This aircraft made its first flight on 3 October 1996 with Fokker test registration PH-JCR. Delivered as B-12276 to Formosa Airlines on 19 October 1996. Formosa Airlines merged with Mandarin Airlines in August 1999. In July 2007, it was delivered to Alliance Airlines and was registered in Australia as VH-FKX on 9 August 2007.

VH-RIO Raytheon Hawker 800XP (cn 258594) of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) / "Rio Tinto Life Flight". Operated by Maroomba Airlines.

On 14 October 2009, the RFDS officially began operating this Hawker 800XP - its first jet aircraft. It is used to transport urgent care patients from around WA and the Indian Ocean Territories, cutting flight times significantly. It carries three stretcher patients and three clinical staff, and is fitted with a Lifeport PLUS specialist aeromedical interior.

Based with Maroomba Airlines at Perth Airport, it is seen here on final approach to runway 21 at 12:50.
