Runway 01/19 runs from the right to the left, Taxiways Bravo and Alpha pass in front of the viewing area (See Aerodrome Chart and the Near Map images)
Advantages of this location:
- The concrete pad is high enough to take photos to the right.
- Wheel chair access along the path leading to the raised pad is possible however there is no ramp to facilitate access onto the pad. The concrete slab would be approximately 15-20cm in height.
|
Disadvantages of this location:
- No shelter
- A full side view would require a milk crate or step ladder to stand on.
|
How to get there:
Driving: Acacia Street Loop is situated at the northern end of the road that continues on to the General Aviation Apron. Turn right into Acacia Street.
Public Transport: The Acacia Street viewing area is not directly accessible via regular public transport (excluding taxi). However the Airtrain runs regularly from Brisbane city to the Airport precinct. From the Domestic Terminal, the viewing area would be about a 15 minute walk.
Opening times - Gates open at 0600 and close at sunset. The closing time is basically at the discretion of Brisbane Airport Corp Safety Officers.
The photographs below were taken between 2007 and 2009. Blue Virgin photos are from 2007. Qantas 747 is from 2008. Jetstar, Virgin and Air New Zealand are from 2009.
